The Oncology Times March 25, 2017 published an article based on the National Academies of Sciences meeting. "The Impact of Being Overweight"

There is evidence that being overweight, which is a risk factor for numerous types of cancer ( 11 in fact), also increases the chance of recurrence and lowers odds for survival.
Soooo what would you think you should do.

In addition they discussed people who have poor diets and despite not overweight those that have more fat than muscle have similar outcomes

Long term weight loss can not be achieved by dieting alone
Exercise (movement) is a part BUT not the answer

Inactivity is an appetite stimulant

Practice NEAT, GUMA, FITT, HIIT (We will explain later in our series)

Facts and Myths
     No pain does not equal no gain
     Liquids (water) during exercise does not cause cramps
     You can not sweat off weight
     Moderate exercise in NEAT and GUMA do not increase appetite
     Spot exercising does not decrease fat in any location
     Cellulite is not a different fat - it responds to diet like every other fat
     Your scale is your friend
   
Hunger is the only legitimate cue for eating but "hunger" can be an external cue
Lapses, relapses and collapses are only momentary

Distracted eating causes greater calorie consumption

Eat slowly and choose location, portions, choices mindfully
